Q: What equipment will my player need?
A: All players will be required to have a batting helmet, glove, cleats and baseball pants. The league will provide players with their uniform shirt and hat. Players are NOT required to have their own bat but it is strongly encouraged. If a player doesn't have their own bat, they will need to ask a teammate to borrow one. Once teams are determined, players will need pants, socks, and a belt. Colors will be determined depending on the team sponsors colors.
**Foal and Shetland players are not required to have cleats but they are recommended**
Q: What days/times/fields will my player be on?
A: Morgantown baseball has multiple fields at Krepps and White Park. We also will be using Mylan Park on occasion. Foal, Shetland, and Pinto divisions can expect to play games and have practice at Krepps Park, Marilla Park, and Mylan Park. Mustang, Bronco, and Pony aged players will be exclusively at White Park. Games could be any day of the week except for Sunday, we also try to not schedule Friday games when the schedule allows. Practices could occur Sunday-Saturday and will be set based on the coaches availability.
Q: We don't live in Morgantown, can my player still play Morgantown Pony Baseball?
A: Yes. Our league has players from Morgantown, Cheat Lake, Westover, Fairmont, and even parts of PA and Maryland. We have no district restrictions for players.
Q: My child has a buddy he would like to play with. Is that possible?
A: Teammate requests are generally honored but can not be guaranteed in our Pinto, Mustang, and Bronco divisions as those teams are split up via draft order based on evaluation scores. Any requests will be noted on the draft sheet though.
Q:When are practices?
A:Practice will start in Late March/Early April. Each team will have a practice once during the week and once on Saturday. Each team will have a set practice schedule. Practices will last 1-2 hours.
Q: When are games?
A: Games will start on or around April 25th. Each team will play 1 or 2 games per week on average though that may be more due to rainouts and makeups. Game will be scheduled Monday-Friday but we may utilize Saturday and Sunday for makeups.
Q: When are playoffs?
A: Playoffs are currently scheduled to start June 6th but may be changed due to makeups and rainouts. We anticipate playoffs ending before Father's Day.
Q: What is expected from parents?
A: We expect parents to bring player(s) to all practices and games. If you can't make it, please let your coach know in advance. We try to keep teams small to allow everyone ample playing time, if you are going to miss a game, your team may need a call up player from a lower level to take their place.
